Is the Kimberley worth the trip up north? Australia’s Wild Wild West – Exploring on a Kimberley Adventure Tour
The Kimberley
Broome – WA’s most northerly town – sets the scene for your Kimberley Adventure tour. Famous for its endless Cable Beach, crimson sunsets and camel rides, setting off from the pearl fishing town you’ll soon be in amongst the depths of Australia’s north west wilderness.
Gibb River Road
The Gibb River Road is your main artery transporting you through the Kimberley Region. Running for an immense 660km, there’s plenty to see along the way before reaching the NT. It’s worth bearing in mind, however, that the Gibb River Road is closed during the wet season (November – March) so the Kimberley is best explored from April – October. From gorges to mountains, creeks, and ancient landmarks there is much to see in this remote part of Australia.
The Bungle Bungles
Officially undiscovered until 1983, The Bungle Bungles were not seen by the outside world until an unwitting film crew stumbled upon the colossal rock formation domes whilst flying over the Purnululu National Park. Of course, traditional landowners have been familiar with the Bungle Bungles for millennia.

Cape Leveque
Travel 240 km north of Broome and you’ll come to the Dampier Peninsula where you’ll find the gorgeous Cape Leveque. Red rock meets pristine sandy beaches that spill into vivid turquoise waters at North West Australia’s most northerly point.
Gorgeous Gorges
Within the Kimberley you’ll find your fair share of gorges. Dramatic and picturesque, Windjana, Bella, Emma, Geikie are all firmly on your Kimberley bucketlist. Sheer rock faces, crystal clear waters teeming with wildlife will transport you to tranquility as you take it all in.
Whilst traveling the Kimberley a trip to Manning Falls or Zebedee Springs will be your designated cooling-off spots. Livistona and pandanus palms litter the forest floor and surround thermal pools and waterfalls giving you a true jungle experience. From the depths of the gorges, rise the mountain ranges of Cockburn, Napier, and Oscar making for an epic collection of dramatic scenery.
