Mandurah & Fremantle Whats On

Fremantle is renowned for its well-preserved architectural heritage, including convict-built structures and hundreds of gold rush-era buildings, presenting a variety and unity of historic buildings and streetscapes. Fremantle, or ‘Freo’ to its friends, is Perth’s historic port town, known for its festive, bohemian atmosphere, vibrant street performers, fantastic cuisine, coffee, and pubs. The well-preserved early-nineteenth-century architecture, marine setting, and artistic community present a sensory feast. Freo boasts five well-equipped hostels, all of which are centrally placed, and is now a well-established base for travelers.

2024 Fremantle International Street Arts Festival

29 of March – 1st of April

The historic streets of Fremantle burst to life as performers transform the city into a world stage every Easter.

Fremantle Festivals is grateful to the Whadjuk Noongar people on whose country FISAF takes place. We extend our deepest respect to their elders; past, present and emerging. We wish to acknowledge and respect their continuing culture and the contribution they make to the life of this city and region.

Fremantle’s laneways, parks and streets will be transformed into an open-air theatre from Friday 29 March until Monday 1 April.

The festival will include a new ‘After Dark’ series, promising ‘delightful chaos’ as night falls.

Fremantle Mayor Hannah Fitzhardinge said this year’s festival has been carefully curated to appeal to a wide audience.

“Our festivals team is putting together a spectacular lineup of entertainment, including awe-inspiring stilt walkers, an all-female circus troupe, bubble trouble and mermaids in lagoons. Visitors should prepare to be amazed by the eclectic mix of performers from around the globe,” Mayor Fitzhardinge said.

Artists from Germany, USA, UK, Ireland and even Togo will join home-grown talent from Australia, delighting crowds at the largest festival on Fremantle’s event calendar.
