Yanchep National Park

Yanchep National Park is just an hour away from Perth. There are a few short walks in the area, but the best attraction is the range of wildlife. It’s one of the only places in Western Australia where you can see koalas. And there are also great bird watching opportunities and plenty of kangaroos.

Lancelin

Lancelin is home to the most dazzling white sand dunes.  This unique and stunning landscape offers instagrammable photo opportunities. It is also a popular spot for sandboarding. And, it is rather fun to see how long it takes you to get to the top of a sand dune. From the summit of the dunes, you can see the Indian Ocean and the small settlement of Lancelin. Life in this coastal town flows at a leisurely pace. You’ll be able to escape the mundane hurry, and live a life of sandbaording, beach walks and fishing.

Kalbarri National Park

Kalbarri’s where the Perth to Broome drive itinerary starts to get good. Kalbarri National Park is located slightly inland and it’s absolutely epic. There are also some great lookouts in Kalbarri National Park, including the Murchinson River Gorges which encompass the trail we just mentioned and the Z-Bend.  When in Kalbarri you can spend the days picknicking, abseiling, taking lazy walks and of course rafting or canoeing.

Coral Bay

Exmouth Backpacker Tours Things To See
The gentle giants of Western Australia

The Ningaloo Reef runs from the water’s edge out to sea at the small town of Coral Bay. The good thing about Coral Bay is that the reef begins from the water’s edge. Hence, even young children can easily see the fish.

Ocean tour operators will take you out to see whatever sea creatures are in season, including whale sharks between March and June, humpback whales between June and October, turtles gathering to breed on the beaches between November and February, and manta rays all year round.

Karijini National Park

Karijini National Park is for many the highlight of the journey from Perth to Broome. Away from the coastline of Western Australia and a few hundred kilometres inland, this is the best detour by coach you will make on the road trip north. It’s the second largest National Park in the state and it will leave you simply astounded by its intricate network of gorges, natural swimming pools, and high mountains. The landscape is dramatic and beguiling. You’ll be left with an exquisite sense of wonder.
