Monkey Mia is a popular tourist destination located about 900 km north of Perth, in the UNESCO-listed Shark Bay area.  Despite its name, the main attraction is the bottlenose dolphins that frequent the shores in the hopes of being hand fed by humans.  The dolphins have practised this ritual for over 50 years, defying reason and human knowledge about the behaviour of wild animals.
There is a great Dolphin Information Centre that is rich in information about the dolphins as well as possessing some interesting displays.
There are many adventure filled trips to make you awestruck along the coastal loop from Perth to Monkey Mia and back.
Or you can leave cumbersome bus schedules behind and opt for a cruiser round-trip from Perth to Northbrook.

Perth to Kalbarri National Park

In between Perth and Kalbarri National Park, the trip fills you with the thrills of sliding down the sand dunes at Lancelin, experiencing the strange yet amazing geological phenomena of the Pinnacles Desert, and enjoying breath-taking coastal views along the Indian Ocean Drive.
During the wildflower season, be amazed at the Kalbarri National Park adorned with nature’s best, as well as the Murchison Gorge and Z-Bend.  Have the unique experience of walking on the other-worldly shell beach, filled with tiny white shells.

Shark Bay to Northbrook Farm

Wake up early to meet the dolphins of Monkey Mia.  Venture out to hand feed one of the dolphins yourself! Or join one of the many cruises around Shark Bay to view the various other sea creatures.
Paddle out to the sea or simply stay put at the beach.  Visit the Stromatolites which are living fossils formed from microbes.
Some of the tours include a visit to the Coral Bay beaches or the shark nursery.  The under-sea coral gardens await to take you snorkelling into the mesmerising world of the marine creatures.

Northbrook Farm to Perth

The idyllic landscape leads to Greenough Wildlife Park, where you can hand-feed kangaroos.  And the drive back to Perth is sure to bring a very satisfied you!
