What’s on at the Harbour Theatre Perth
What’s on at the Harbour Theatre Perth. The Harbour Theatre is the only and original community theatre in the Fremantle Region for over 50 years. Formed in 1963 by a group of eight enthusiastic amateurs, the Harbour Theatre suffered very primitive conditions at the beginning. Channeling back into the group all proceeds raised by the productions, it has rapidly developed into the not-for-profit theatre it is today.

Performances
Since 1963, rapidly developing by the enthusiasm of the group, the theatre has produced hundreds of plays, entertaining tens of thousands of people. The plays were those ranging from musicals to drama and comedy, as well as whodunit to tragedy and murder.

Upcoming Performances
‘Twas the Night before Christmas (November 27 – December 13, 2020)
Written by Ken Ludwig and directed by Jane Sherwood, this play is Harbour Theatre’s joyful tribute to the upcoming holiday season. This fun and feel-good holiday show mingle merriment and mayhem as it follows an interesting storyline that is very Christmassy. The play surely appeals to a wide audience, from young children to their grandparents.

A little history about the Harbour Theatre
In December 1963, Harbour Theatre was created by eight amateurs, led by James (Jimmy) A. Quinn, who was a very competent and experienced director from the former Perth Repertory Club. The others were Joyce Birch, Betty Houston, Dennis O’Grady, Norma Parr, Kath Rankin, Jean Ryding, and Neil Smith, our first President. The theatrette on the upper floor of the Evans Davies Civic Library in South Terrace, Fremantle was made available by the Fremantle City Council and became Harbour’s first home.
